1. Spurs Judicial Review
Tottenham Hotspurs are to launch a Judicial Review into the decision which awarded the 2012 Olympic Stadium to their arch rivals West Ham United. Spurs are particularly angry over a deal made between West Ham and Newham Council which gave the Hammers a €40 Million loan to fund the winning bid.
2. Ambush Marketing
Any company found guilty of ambush marketing at the 2012 Olympics is liable to a fine not exceeding €20,000. Section 21 of the London Olympic Games and Paralympic Games Act 2006 aims to avoid the kind of situation which occurred at the 2006 Football World Cup when Dutch beer company Bavaria attempted promoting their unlicensed product at a World Cup stadium. 36 female models were paid to publicise the beer but were subsequently removed from the ground once their motive was established.
3. Ticket Touts
The 2012 Olympic organisers are likley to take heart from a ruling given recently in favour of the English RFU. People who sell tickets for profit on websites face the risk of being named and of having their addresses exposed after the RFU were granted a court order to achieve this. This has the result that the RFU can sanction people who have breached
